Hadith 48: Abū Saʿīd Muḥammad ibn Ibrāhīm al-Adīb – may Allah have mercy on him – informed us: Ḥājib ibn Aḥmad al-Ṭūsī informed us: Aḥmad ibn Naṣr ibn Sulaymān ibn Salama al-Ḥimṣī informed us: Yūsuf ibn al-Safar narrated to us, on the authority of al-Awzāʿī, on the authority of al-Zuhrī, on the authority of ʿUrwa, on the authority of ʿĀʾisha – may Allah be pleased with her and her father – that the Messenger of Allah – may Allah bless him and his family and grant them peace – said, “A friend of Allah is naturally inclined to generosity and good character.”
Hadith 49: Abū Nuʿaym ʿAbd al-Malik ibn al-Ḥasan al-Isfarāyīnī informed us: Abū ʿAwāna Yaʿqūb ibn Isḥāq informed us: Yazīd ibn Sinān narrated to us: ʿUthmān ibn ʿUmar narrated to us: Abū ʿĀmir al-Khazzār narrated to us, on the authority of Abī ʿImرān al-Jawnī, on the authority of ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Ṣāmit, on the authority of Abī Dharr – may Allah be pleased with him – who said: The Messenger of Allah – may Allah bless him and grant him peace – said to me: “Never disparage an act of goodness, even if it is [as simple as] meeting your brother with a cheerful face. And when you cook a broth, increase its water and give some of it to your neighbor.”
