بَابُ إِرْضَاءِ الْخَصْمِ

4. Appeasing the Adversary

Chapter 5 of 41 · 2 units
وَمِنْ كَمَالِ تَوْبَتِهِ إِرْضَاءُ الْخَصْمِ بِمَا أَمْكَنَهُ.
From the perfection of his repentance is to appease his adversary to the best of his ability.
٦ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ جَنَاحُ بْنُ نَذِيرِ بْنِ جَنَاحِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ الْمُحَارِبِيُّ بِالْكُوفَةِ، ثَنَا عَمِّي أَحْمَدُ بْنُ جَنَاحِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، ثَنَا أَبُو الْحَرِيشِ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عِيسَى بْنِ مَخْلَدٍ الْكِلَابِيُّ، ثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ وَهْبٍ الطَّهْرَمَسِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ وَهْبٍ عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: «لَرَدُّ دَانِقٍ مِنْ حَرَامٍ يَعْدِلُ عِنْدَ اللهِ سَبْعِينَ حَجَّةً مَبْرُورَةً.»
Hadith 6: Abū Muḥammad Janāḥ ibn Nadhīr ibn Janāḥ ibn Isḥāq al-Muḥāribī informed us in Kufa: my uncle Aḥmad ibn Janāḥ ibn Isḥāq narrated to us: Abū ʾl-Ḥarīsh Aḥmad ibn ʿĪsā ibn Makhlad al-Kilābī narrated to us: Isḥāq ibn Wahb al-Ṭahramasī narrated to us: Ibn Wahb narrated to me on the authority of Mālik, on the authority of Nāfiʿ, on the authority of Ibn ʿUmar, on the authority of the Messenger of Allah – may Allah bless him and grant him peace – that he said, “Returning a dāniq’s worth of unlawful wealth is equivalent to seventy accepted pilgrimages in the sight of Allah.”
