19. Remembrance of Allah Most High

ٱلْوَاجِبُ عَلَى ٱلْمُرِيدِ أَنْ يَذْكُرَ ٱللَّهَ ﷾ أَبَدًا بِقَلْبِهِ وَلَا يَنْسَاهُ وَلَا يَفْتُرَ بِلِسَانِهِ عَنْ ذِكْرِهِ مَا أَمْكَنَهُ.
The aspirant must remember Allah, the Glorified and Exalted, constantly with his heart and never forget Him. Nor should he, to the best of his ability, grow weary of remembering Him with his tongue.
٢٦ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو ٱلْحُسَيْنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ ٱللَّهِ بْنِ بِشْرَانَ بِبَغْدَادَ، قَالَ: ثَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ ٱلْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ صَفْوَانَ ٱلْبَرْذَعِيُّ، قَالَ: ثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ عَبْدُ ٱللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي ٱلدُّنْيَا، قَالَ: ثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ مَعْرُوفٍ أَبُو عَلِيٍّ ٱلضَّرِيرُ، ثَنَا أَنَسُ بْنُ عِيَاضٍ، ثَنَا عَبْدُ ٱللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدِ ٱبْنِ أَبِي هِنْدٍ عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ مَوْلَى عَبْدِ ٱللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنْ أَبِي بَحِيرَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي ٱلدَّرْدَاءِ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ ﵆: «أَلَا أُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِخَيْرِ أَعْمَالِكُمْ، وَأَزْكَاهَا عِنْدَ مَلِيكِكُمْ، وَأَرْفَعِهَا فِي دَرَجَاتِكُمْ، وَخَيْرٌ مِنْ إِعْطَاءِ ٱلذَّهَبِ وَٱلْوَرِقِ وَأَنْ تَلْقَوْا عَدُوَّكُمْ فَتَضْرِبُوا أَعْنَاقَهُمْ وَيَضْرِبُوا أَعْنَاقَكُمْ؟» قَالُوا: مَا ذَٰلِكَ يَا رَسُولَ ٱللَّهِ؟ قَالَ: «ذِكْرُ ٱللَّهِ ﵎.»
Hadith 26: Abū ʾl-Ḥوسayn ʿAlī ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Bishrān informed us in Baghdad, he said: Abū ʿAlī al-Ḥusayn ibn Ṣafwān al-Bardhaʿī narrated to us, he said: Abū Bakr ʿAbd Allāh ibn Muḥammad ibn Abī ʾl-Dunyā narrated to us, he said: Hārūn ibn Maʿrūf Abū ʿAlī al-Ḍarīr narrated to us: Anas ibn ʿIyāḍ narrated to us: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Saʿīd ibn Abī Saʿīd ibn Abī Hind narrated to us on the authority of Ziyād ibn Abī Ziyād, the Mawlā of ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbbās, on the authority of Abū Baḥīra, on the authority of Abī ʾl-Dardāʾ who said: The Messenger of Allah – may Allah bless him and grant him peace – said: “Shall I not inform you of the best of your actions, the purest of them before your Sovereign, the best of them in elevating your degrees, and better than giving gold and silver, and meeting your enemy, you striking their necks and them striking yours?” They said, “What would that be, O Messenger of Allah?” He said, “Remembrance of Allah, the Blessed and Exalted.”
٢٧ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ عَبْدُ ٱلْمَلِكِ بْنُ ٱلْحَسَنِ ٱلْإِسْفَرَايِنِيُّ، أَنْبَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، ثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ٱلصَّائِغُ، ثَنَا عَفَّانُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، ثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ ﵌: «لَا تَقُومُ ٱلسَّاعَةُ حَتَّى لَا يُقَالَ فِي ٱلْأَرْضِ ٱللَّهُ.»
Hadith 27: Abū Nuʿaym ʿAbd al-Malik ibn al-Ḥasan al-Isfarāyinī informed us: Abū ʿAwāna Yaʿqūb ibn Isḥāq informed us: Jaʿfar ibn Muḥammad al-Ṣāʾigh narrated to us: ʿAffān ibn Muslim narrated to us: Ḥammād ibn Salama narrated to us on the authority of Thābit, on the authority of Anas ibn Mālik who said: The Messenger of Allah said, “The Hour will not commence until ‘Allāh’ is no longer said on the Earth.”
