بَابُ ٱلْقَنَاعَةِ

17. Contentment

ٱلْقَنَاعَةُ ٱلِٱكْتِفَاءُ بِمَا فِي يَدِكَ، وَسُقُوطُ ٱلِٱسْتِزَادَةِ.
Contentment is being satisfied with what is in your possession and abandoning the desire to seek more.
٢٣ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ ٱلْحُسَيْنِ ٱلسُّلَمِيُّ، أَنْبَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مَطَرٍ، ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُوسَى ٱلْحُلْوَانِيُّ، ثَنَا عَبْدُ ٱللَّهِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ٱلْغِفَارِيُّ، عَنِ ٱلْمُنْكَدِرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ ﵆: «ٱلْقَنَاعَةُ كَنْزٌ لَا يَفْنَى.»
Hadith 23: Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥusayn al-Sulamī informed us: Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar ibn Maṭar informed us: Muḥammad ibn Mūsā al-Ḥulwānī narrated to us: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ibrāhīm al-Ghifārī narrated to us on the authority of al-Munkadir ibn Muḥammad, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Jābir who said: The Messenger of Allah – may Allah bless him and his family – said: “Contentment is an inexhaustible treasure.”
