Hadith 42: Abū ʾl-Ḥوسayn Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad al-Khaffāf – may Allah have mercy on him – informed us: Abū ʾl-ʿAbbās Muḥammad ibn Isḥāق al-Sarrāj informed us: Qutayba ibn Saʿīd narrated to us: Mālik ibn Anas narrated to us on the authority of ʿĀmir ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Zubayr, on the authority of ʿAmr ibn Sulaym al-Zuraqī, on the authority of Abū Qatāda al-Sulamī – may Allah be pleased with him – that the Messenger of Allah – may Allah bless him and his family and grant them peace – would pray while he was carrying Umāma. When he prostrated, he would put her down and when he stood up he would lift her up.
